My cause is nutrition for inner-city kids. Most of us wouldn't believe some of the conditions children in our own country contend with in some of our own inner cities. I didn't believe it until I got involved with an organization called Kids in the Kitchen. Many of these children have never stepped inside a grocery store. Most of their meals come from school free-lunches, and occasionally a gas station. We're teaching these children and their families nutrition in the simplest form and sending them home with the tools and ingredients. Hopefully, this will help alleviate some of the childhood obesity and disease right here in our own backyard.

Shumlin's reasons for buying out Mr. Dodge had nothing to do with accumulating more real estate.
